John Piper and the prosperity gospel

I'm not quite sure what to think about this video. I agree with the message, but is it over the top? Let me know what you think.

Steve-

I have to agree with John Piper. This message of course is for Christians or religious people who preach and follow this message. It is not for the unbeliever who does not even claim or care to know God. This "gospel" is rooted in the self-centered Christianity that we are drenched in today. The self-esteem "gospel" (Joel Osteen) is no better.

Remember what Paul says in Galatians chapter 1:

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Gal1:8-9)

As you probably know, the Greek word translated “accursed” is anathema. It means condemned damned, excommunicated. Why because the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes…it is the truth. To distort it, is to risk leading people down the path of destruction. In fact in Paul’s letters, you can in almost every case exchange the words, truth, gospel and Jesus Christ. He is the way the truth and the life.

So, “over the top?”, perhaps. But today, perhaps we need some of that.

Steve,
Wow - that is in your face. I like the message, like the content, the voice is tough. It is a tough love message, not a warming, "Jesus is love" message.

I do think that we need to hear more of that. Satan likes the radio loud while we are driving our BMW... so we drown out the voice of the dying and hopeless. That is the curse of the american culture.
